Season

Right now, the season is autumn. Orange, yellow, and red leaves litter the ground of The Forest. Trees are beginning to lose their branches and the sun shines brightly through the canopy. It's hotter than usual, and it has been raining a lot.

Intro

You thought that our island was only ever inhabited by wolves. That wolves were here from the beginning. Well, you'd be wrong. May 1840 was when the humans arrived mistakenly at E'teal. They were escaped clockwork ruffians -- those who could only make money but keeping clocks intact. Anyway, there were three of them. One who dedicated himself to working with oak, one who dedicated himself to working with bronze, and one who dedicated himself to working with silver. The woodworker was exceptionally more lawful than his allies. He believed not in thieving fine bronze and silver from other's hard work, but cutting logs of oak from trees himself. You may be wondering where the wolves were from, at this point. Well, these men stole several wolves from the places they were incarcerated in back in their town. The three desired wolves so that they could, at least hopefully, transform themselves into werewolves with the bite. They wanted to create a more 'superior' race of this island. However, when their test failed, they were stranded on the island with a supply of silver, bronze, and oak that they had no use for. Now, they didn't need it to train the wolves. Alas, they set the wolves free and set to getting rid of their supplies. They began building a clock tower. The base was made of carefully logs of wood. There was so much of the oak on E'teal that his allies demanded he build the foundation. So he did. The circle of the clock was forged of bronze, and the hands and numbers were formed of silver. Those wolves that were released -- there were ten of them. Two (Jennezia and Lexer) ran off to the other side of the island to avoid human contact. But let's not get into their story, yet. The other eight went elsewhere. One became king of the others and the wolf population began escalating. Meanwhile, the clock tower was finished and the three lawbreakers had died. However, the king -- Neg -- was now creating a more 'superior' race. A pack of wolves.

This section of The Forest is extremely dense and hard to navigate through. many newcomers find it easy to get lost in this particular part of E'teal. Also, many often find the winding forest dark which strengthens the amount of lost canines.

The Dense Woodland Ja210

Jennezia's eyes scanned admirably at the many plants that tangled around the earth below her paws and up the many types of trees. Her gaze gently touched the dark bark of a conifer, and she began to approach the trunk of it. Long gray scratches of age and violence were dug into its patchwork bark, making the seemingly misplaced pine look even more out of place. Jennezia turned around and closely examined that tree. It was a birch, its loose bark coloured with loose splotches of khaki and gray. However, Jennezia saw no scratches. The conifer seemed completely oblivious to the unharmed nature around it. She approached the pine again, this time more closely examining it and the underbrush surrounding it. Several mashed berries littered the ground (which, she knew, could have been dropped by any bird). A few oddly coloured mushrooms sprouted near the trunk, each coated in a moist morning dew. And behind the scarred tree were two crooked bushes. Their trunks were bent and each of the hung away from the place in between them. Curious, Jennezia crept closer. The bushes were obviously those that would produce flowers eventually. Small, yellow buds popped up at each split in the places where the bushes' leaves separated. As Jenna lowered her head, she noticed the the crack in the trunk wasn't natural at all. It was forced.

Startled by a sudden prick on her back, Jenna leaped up with a low pitched grunt. An acorn had dropped right on her neck. Her chest welled with an embarrassment that she didn't know was still there. For, Jennezia had thought her sense of embarrassment had left when her mother died. So many other things had left her then too. All the fear she knew as a child had left. But, in retaliation, all of her sense of security had vanished with it. Each day Jenna imagined the blazing and shameful eyes of her mother staring holes through her pelt and scolding her with a ferocity she'd grown to love. Yes, Jenna realized then. She had grown to love her mother's constant corrections and claims on various etiquettes. Guilt ached in her head and rose in her throat. Dizzy, she sat down. Thoughts of her strict mother were painful, but thoughts of her gentle father. James had always been overly kind and appreciative to Jennezia's suggestions and methods of doing things. Her father was always on her side, no matter what her mother spat. Her father truly loved her with all of his canine heart.

Jennezia missed all of her family painfully bad, but she managed most of the time. Every once in a while, she'd have a moment of memento like she was going through now. But she got over them rather quickly. Usually after a good rest. Jennezia, though she wanted to be relived of the guilt and pain regarding her parents, wanted to remember it at the same time. When her mother left her with her brother, Jennezia remembered how happy she felt. Jenna wasn't alarmed or remotely upraised at all to hear about her own mother's departure, which stirred up even more chaos inside of her already aching heart. If only, Jenna thought, she had something to cover that guilt up with. Something like a new beginning. Something like more wolves.

Lexer. The word struck Jennezia like a hard smack in the face. This male had been her friend for as long as she could remember. Alas, she hadn't seen him in so long. Jennezia didn't even know if he was still alive, much less near her. She let out a loud laugh, maybe a bit disturbingly too loud at that. The frill noise echoed through the sun-painted autumnal leaves, some falling to the ground. Jenna's small head was spinning with theories and thoughts. All she could imagine was Lexer. Just the image of him. His saturated gray fur and pleasant eyes shot an arrow at her gizzard. His sweet voice created a magnitude in her numb ears. Everything about her old friend seemed so distant now. Now that her family was gone and dead. She dared thinking about just how dead Lexer was.

Still, a pang of hope echoed in her emptied heart. Perhaps he hadn't died and was searching for her as she was him. Jenna didn't care how improbable it was. She flushed away the reality that she'd be wandering The Forest for years and that nothing she didn't know was here was here. Suddenly, the stressed female broke out into a run. Her paws flew off the ground and brought of the dying maroon leaves with them. She soared through the trees and plants, briefly sniffing the air in each segment of The Forest. Running was the only thought circulating through her hardy mind. Lifting her paws up and putting them pack down, over and over. And then she stopped. A majestic oak stood before her, scars of age clear in its faded bark. It was the oldest tree in the forest. If lexer would go anywhere, he'd theoretically come here. The middle of the forest. The end of all of the paths. The center of life.

Lexer stretched out on the leaf covered carpet that he had grown so accustomed to, rustling the crumpled bits of dead leaves from their rest and creating the perfect "nest" for him. He yawned tiredly, although the bright sun had planted its figure in the sky long ago. He felt like he hadn't slept in years. Sometimes, he didn't like to think about why. Believe it or not, Lexer was still in denial over losing Jenna. He wished he could be fixed, but there was no mending a broken heart. Not even the strongest medic would be able to whip us such a remedy. Sometimes, Lexer liked to imagine what she was doing, while he moped about, wandering the forest that he used to know so well. He was positive she was alive, thinking otherwise wasn't an option for him. If she had died, surely he would die as well.

Lexer paused at the sound of what he believed to be a squirrel, digging through the leaf littered floor in hopes of a meal. Lexer could hardly care about food anymore. He could hardly care about anything. His own life wasn't important.

Jenna's was.

Lexer turned over in his mottled state, causing the leaves he had flattened to cry out in a whisper. The sound clogged his ears until he once again, found himself still. His eyes flickered across the multi colored terrain, the filled in canvas of reds, browns, and greens, with a blue background. Several small clouds dotted the horizon, but otherwise, the sky was clear.

Lexer closed his eyes restlessly. Again he found the sense that he would never find sleep, though everything felt like a dream. He through his body over to rest on his other side, a mirror image. Why did everything look the same in this forest? Lexer reminded himself of the many times that Jenna had tried to explain to him the difference of every tree, how each one held a purpose. He had merely scoffed at the comment. Only Jenna would say such a thing.

Only Jenna.

A huff escaped the tan brute's maw, releasing a stream of air with it. He felt his chest flatten as he repeated the gesture, then inflated with air once again. That was all there was to life really, without Jenna anyways.

Jenna had been his only friend. She was the only life he knew besides this one, and he didn't like how he felt.

From a distance, Lexer heard another rustle of leaves, one after the other. Someone was running. The body was too big to be a squirrel, but too large to be a bear. The figure passed him in a flash. He couildn't see who it was, but he recognized his own species. Lexer sprung to his paws unsteadily as the blood rushed to his head. He ignored his sudden faintness and hurled himself forward. He had never been the fastest male, but maybe this wolf was the answer to his question.

The wolf in front of him hurled herself to a stop, causing Lexer to trip over her and send them both tumbling. A growl ripped through his chest and he was unsure if the same noise emitted through the other wolf as well. Another wolf on the territory, meant danger to himself and any other wolf on the territory, specifically Jenna.

When Lexer managed to right himself, he was left with another wave of nausea. This was about the last outcome he had expected. A fight to the death, maybe. But instead, the love of his life stood in front of him.

"Jenna?" He inquired in his naturally rough voice. He hadn't spoken a word in ages. He was glad her name was the first he had spoke since seeing her last. She hadn't changed a bit. He grew more confident the longer he stood there. He could only hope that she had remembered him.

The Dense Woodland Ja210

A rustling noise came from behind Jennezia in her position in front of the tree. She didn't turn. It was probably a small bird scavenging for acorns that she didn't want to scare. Either that, or a breeze. Sure enough, the spiky chill of cold air looped around her frail bones. The weather was getting colder by each day. Leaves were turning grayer, trees were getting weaker, and Jenna was growing emptier. The rustling noise grew louder. This was no noise that your everyday bird could create. Perhaps it was a fox or a coyote. Or even a raccoon. She'd seen several of the black, gray, and white fox-like creatures. Often, they ate the small nuts and berries that littered the ground and sometimes ate the bodies of dead animals. Perhaps when Jenna was dead a raccoon would clean her. The sound was growing louder, and now Jenna recognized a short pause between steps. The pace was slow and curious. It was probably just a really big fox. Jennezia sighed loudly and glanced up. The branches of the old oak were gnarled and mossy. Alabaster sticks and branches stuck out of the misshaped truck at odd, creepy angles. A long time ago, she'd nicknamed this tree. She didn't remember what it was called, though. Only Lexer would remember it. He'd always been good at remembering things.

The noise grew louder, a crunch of oak leaves sounding from right behind her. Jenna's breath caught in her throat and she stared directly at the oak tree. Her shoulders were erect and her paws pointed. Then, she heard her name. A sharp "Jenna? Asked in a voice behind her. No. It wasn't Lexer. Her mind was definitely playing tricks now. Subconsciously, Jennezia's nose dragged in the air. She recognized her own species. The figure behind her was definitely canine. Definitely wolf. She turned slightly to the left, glancing at the wolf from her peripheral vision. The pelt contained a black so ebony that it seemed to be cast down from midnight itself. And the eyes of the wolf... they were unmistakable. She whirled around and looked the male right in the face. His gaze at her was tinted with shock and sorrow as her's was. "Lexer...." She said so quietly that she assumed only she could understand. Her green eyes avoided his as they traced the ground. The patterns in the soil. It couldn't be him. This was completely and utterly impossible. The level of coincidence that this was... the level wasn't even in the book. She'd just been thinking about Lexer ten minutes ago, and here he was right in front of her. The same scent she'd always remembered. The same eyes. The same pelt. Or was it? Lexer had a scar, she realized. A scar from a hunting accident swirling down his ribcage. Her eyes flew up to the place where his chest curled in. There was the same scar there, the red and white of dead tissue practically waving at her. "It's you," she said blankly. Disbelief and trust clouded her emerald optics and she finally allowed their gazes to meet. His eyes were the same warm honey tone they'd always been. This image in front of her was what she had longed for so badly. A friend.

No longer would she have to suffer loneliness. No longer would she be alone in all of her daily activities. No more random marauding until she found food. No more talking to herself. No more pressuring herself into doing all the things she needed to survive. Because now, ending her life wasn't necessary. Now they was meaning. She offered him a smile she'd stored up for the moment one so toothy and sincere that it almost covered up the confusion that glittered in her eyes. The calmness that seemed to ripple through his comical fur was something Jenna could only admire. After years of of stress and superstition, calmness was no longer an emotion she could keep. Perhaps Lexer could help her rediscover it.

Askem picked up a liesurly trot as he secured the area for any threats, as well as scouting for any easy meals. His stomach rumbled as he thought of the luxery of having food. A pair of wolves wasn't enough to keep the interminable hunger at bay.
Reinforcing the boundaries as he went on his merry way, he did his best to stay vigilant but patrolling was boring and he was keen on taking a break. Cutting through toward the middle of the forest, he began his search for Jenna. He prepared a lie about how he had circled the entire place and that he was confident there were no others occupying the land. She was his only company, and she had defaultly taken a leadership role as Askem wasn't much of a leader no matter how much he wanted to believe he was. He could hear the murmer of Jenna's voice just beyond the next row of trees though she remained out of site. Unaware of the other brute that stood just out of his line of sight, he began to speak casually, greeting Jen with his usual flirtatious antics. "Hey babe, I-" He broke off as he caught site of the sturdily built fellow tangled with Jenny. He immidiately regretted using those choice of words as he birefed over the figure infront of him.

"Um.... Jen, who's this?" He asked awkwardly, though he was 93% sure he knew who he was. It must've been the infamous Lexer. The one that Jen couldn't stop talking about. 'He's my everything! I miss him so much!' bleh. Askem was confident that he would never understand all of that 'love' crap. "My name's Askem." He barked suspiciously, still not quite ble to wrap his head around the scene before him.

The Dense Woodland Ja210

There was suddenly another rustle in the autumnal forest leaves. Jennezia looked up and immediately recognized the wolf as Askem. The wolf was a gray wolf; one of the only she'd ever known. The bottom of his pelt was tainted white with a few speckles of gray here and there. His head, however, was black a gray like a raccoon's. The optics he bore were a deep and dark brown. And, most peculiarly, had a black and gray spike of fur that traced his head and his neck. Anyway, he trotted casually through the leaves like he always did. Jennezia felt like he expected more from her than she gave him. He approached her without looking up and then said 'Hey babe, I-'. Uncontrollably, Jennezia's face flushed. Askem had always thought that he was exactly what she needed to get over Lexer. Nonetheless, nothing was ever the same. Nothing he did was quite like anything Lexer did. He caught food for her differently. He navigated the territory differently. He spoke differently. She appreciated him and liked him well... as a friend. No more than friendship was between them.

Askem was frozen, staring at Lex with an expression of rage and curiosity. The way that his eyes burned holes into his fur and the shock that seemed to spark at his feet told her that no good news was between the two males. 'Um.... Jen, who's this?' She looked at him plainly. She looked at Askem's erect ears and flushed expression and assumed that he already had an idea of what she would say. "Well... Jenna began, despite her theory in it being a rhetorical question, "this is Lexer." She offered Askem a light smile. "You know, our relationship isn't trivial. It was just... never the same." She hated putting down Askem like this; he'd always been so good to her. Telling him the truth was only the right thing to do.

'My name's Askem,' He snapped suspiciously to Lexer. The edge in the gray and white male's voice was as sharp as a dagger. His eyes seemed to glow a deep honey colour because of all the questions he wanted to snipe Lex's way.

SAANAA
"A thousand enemies outside the house, are better than one within."

The eyes of the grey-brown creature swept left, and right across the leaf landscape. No canines were within his view. Only the orange, red, and yellow foliage that scattered the area all around him, making a forest of paths left to be discovered, with hidden treasures to be found. He breathed in, scents that were both familiar, and unfamiliar to his memory, hitting his dark nostrils. The most familiar was the scent that belonged to a female European wolf whose title he identified as Jennezia. The other smells, he was unsure of. Letting his eyes sweep over the bright coloured plants again, he pushed himself up into a standing position. He needed to talk to the she-wolf about his decision on staying.

At a fast trot, the Arabian Wolf made his way towards the three wolves, his tan ears flickering as their voices grew louder. He soon paused when the three were in front of him, and waited until they were silent. When they were, he let his voice slip past his lips. "Greetings," He lowered his skull politely to the three canines, and then turned towards the she-wolf. "Jennezia, I would like to talk about your proposal," His light orange eyes shifted towards the two males, and then back to the European she-wolf. "I have decided to accept, and join your pack," He paused again, listening to the other wolf's breathing. "That is, if the offer still stands." The male added, and then fell silent, as he waited for her to answer.

"Well... You know, our relationship isn't trivial. It was just... never the same."

Askem nodded his head, only taking a moment to get over Jen. There are other fish in the sea, and he knew that this loser made her happy, yet he still felt like he had lost and he didn't like to lose. He glanced up at Jen who had the most sincere smile over her maw like she pitied him. "Aw, come 'on don't give me that look." He barked, a tone almost bitter with defeat trailing his words. Sure, Jen was nice but that wasn't why he was upset. His acrid nature was due to the fact that 'Lexer' probably thought he had him beat. He had already stolen the trophy. What was the point of playing the game?

And what was worse, Jen was letting him down. Askem had never been on this side of a break up, even if what they had was small. He shook out his torso before speaking again. "Yeah no, don't worry about it." He coughed, avoiding Lexer's eyes. The awkward pause that followed suit seemed dreadfully long, but soon enough a new distraction relieved Askem from his spot in the uncomfortably hot limelight.

The steady thud of paws against the ground hit his ears and he swiveled his head in the noise's direction.

"Greetings. Jennezia, I would like to talk about your proposal. I have decided to accept, and join your pack, that is, if the offer still stands."

Askem's hopes rose just a little at the mention of a pack. He was still hungry and wouldn't be able to hunt by himelf, then again maybe the all mighty Lexer could do it. He shook the bitter thoughts away with a minute flick of his tail before sitting down with the leaves that littered the forest floor acting as his cushin.

The Dense Woodland Ja210

A loud, livid voice snaked through the woodland, turning the frantic chatter of the forest birds into vigil silence. The embers in the fiery voice sprayed over the whole clearing, causing the silence to spread to every single wolf gathered. The voice was coming from a male wolf. A male. He wasn't particularly big, either. His pelt was a deep cream with splotches of brown and gray here and there. Golden fingers licked his optics and deep yellow pooled around the edges of her eye. His muzzle was sticking out pointedly as if to say 'respect me'. He looked overall scandalous and thrilled to be here, by this oak. Jennezia noticed the words that were coming out of the male's mouth, then. 'Jennezia, I would like to talk about your proposal. I have decided to accept, and join your pack. ' He said diplomatically to her in a particularly sweet tone. Jennezia looked up slowly to meet the male's gaze. This was Saanaa, she recalled. A wolf she'd asked if he wanted to stay with her so that hunting would get done quicker. Suddenly, he finished with 'That is, if the offer still stands'. Jenna's ears flicked as she gazed at the male, her stature alert, and said "Of course; you can stay as long as you like." Her eyes flew to Lexer at her right "This is Lexer, and the other wolf is Askem." She said his name dismissively, mildly offended by his cool expression.

'Aw, c'mon don't give me that look.' He said jokingly towards her. Jennezia realized that he was talking about her unyielding smile. It was abnormal and big. She hadn't smiled in so long that she'd forgotten how hard it was to stop. This happiness... it was a feeling that she had lost for so long. Ever since she entered this forest, at that. Loneliness had changed her. All she'd chatted with for the past few years was Askem. Now, they weren't as close. They were still friends, though. Alliances in survival. "I'm sorry Askem. I just haven't seen Lexer in so long..." She trailed off, seeing the male's impatient and slightly irritated expression. His eyes scrolled through Lexer's features with a sliver of brutality, as if he'd just stolen Askem's gold. But he didn't. Jenna couldn't help feeling a surge of guilt as her smile subsided and a feeling of depression filled the gaps. She began to wonder why Lexer had found her at all... at random like this.

Jenna looked up to the sky. It was getting fearfully dark and she hadn't realized it before. The sun of the afternoon was fading a revealing a tiny misplaced piece of shimmering moon. Being in the forest uncovered at night like this was incredibly dangerous. Around this time was when the bears became coming out, and if she'd learned one thing in her years in the forest, it was that bears didn't play well with others. In fact, they didn't play at all. "We have to get out of here, guys." She said swiftly, rising to her feet. It seemed that in each minute that passed, the sky grew much darker than before. "Just a little longer to get settled with one another, and then we'll leave."

"I'm sorry Askem. I just haven't seen Lexer in so long..."

Askem shook his head in dismay. He knew she wasn't hurting him on purpose, but he didn't love the idea of being dumped. "Don't worry 'bout it hun. I can't tell you who to love." He said with an indifferent shrug of his shoulders, though his instincts screamed at him to beat the crud out of Lexer. He couldn't do that in front of a lady. He was a gentleman after all.

"We have to get out of here, guys. Just a little longer to get settled with one another, and then we'll leave."

He looked up at the darkening skies as dusk surrounded them. Without his notice, the birds had settled down for the night and the bats cried at a distance, hunting for breakfast. The forest was a different place after the sun went to sleep beyond the horizon and he knew it was dangerous to linger. "The sooner the better." He sighed, the mere reminder of sleep sending a yawn to his maw. As much as he hated the idea, he assumed that the 'star struck lovers' would want some time to catch up, so he reluctantly allowed them some time alone. It was against his principals to let a defensless lady wander with a complete stranger, but he would have to mke an acception. He wasn't a complete stranger to Janna at least. "I'll meet you guys back at the den?" He barked before starting at a slow and heavy lope toward the hole in the ground the wolves called home.

Lexer blinked warily as the conversation between the wolves strode forward. He didn't feel the need to speak up. He was perfectly content standing next to Jenna. The cocky male -Lexer had never bothered to remember his name- excused himself from the rest of the group, and Lexer felt slightly more comfortable since he was out of the picture.

The male's front paws shuffled beneath him, his legs had quickly grown stiff after standing in such an alert posture. He turned his head to more carefully examine the wolf that had recently approached, speaking with Jenna as if he had known her his whole life. Lexer took a subtle step closer to Jennezia. He was afraid to take his eyes off of her, afraid he'd lose her again.

Afraid he'd wake up.

His losing her was the worst thing he had ever experienced, and while it wasn't his choice to do so, he wasn't about to let her go again.

Lexer wasn't afraid of the dark, but he could tell that Jen was nervous about the sudden loss of the sun. "You're right" the multi colored male huffed, although he wasn't sure why she would be so anxious to end the night. He waited for her to take the lead, kicking up dry, dead leaves as he turned in the direction the male had traveled in just moments before.

Home is where the heart is The male recalled silently. He would be willing to follow her wherever she wanted to go, as long as she was ready to have him, and maybe some after that.

The Dense Woodland Ja210

This was exactly the way it had been during the last legitimate moment Jennezia had had with Lexer. Sitting in vigil silence. Only, last time, neither of them had been scared to lose eachother at the flick of a paw. At the rustle of a leaf. Jenne was partially afraid that if she breathed in, Lexer would disintegrate. That some mystical force would strike down from divinity and separate the two again. Forever. There was an empty place in Jennezia's chest. A hole that had throbbed for years and years. Three, precisely. And now was her chance to refill it. But alas, the small female was paralyzed. Her eyes were wide beyond belief and her paws were pasted to the ground. His scent, though sweet and familiar, was nauseating. She wanted to turn over and sob and forget that anything ever happened between them. But at the same time she wanted to say something. She wasn't particularly good at starting conversations and she wasn't the most social chicken in the coop, but she had several good ideas for communication. Well, not really. If she asked him how he'd been for the last three years, it'd be a dead end conversation. They'd both been lost and miserable. That was that. If she asked him what he'd been doing for the last three years, he'd say something along the lines of 'trying to survive' or 'missing you'. Also, frankly, a dead end conversation. Jenne didn't want to hear that. She didn't want anymore misery. She didn't want anymore sadness. She didn't want anymore reconsideration.

'Don't worry 'bout it hun. I can't tell you who to love,' Askem said in his normal, incredibly lax voice. And he was right. Nobody could tell her who to love. Not even she could. But whatever had told her had simultaneously driven her into an inescapable depression and had practically driven her to insanity. Not that she regretted any of it. Lexer was... everything. And besides, Askem had pulled her through most of it. He'd tied her to an invisible relationship that Jenne had just located and carelessly cut to pieces. She saw it in his impasse-like eyes. The flicker of shame, or regret, or anger. When he looked at Lexer a flame of anger burned inside him. Who did Jenne belong to, she now wondered. Was there really a feud taking place over her? A spar for a frail little female who was scared of half the world and had upset the other half. She felt a peculiar and rare mix of pride and sorrow. Hopefully she and Askem could still be friends. Yep, she'd utterly friend zoned Askem. How nice of her. Jenne normally would have sighed, but silence was still overwhelming. She wanted to speak but couldn't. At that, she wanted to scream with excitement but couldn't. Jenne felt like she was duck taped into a small little ball of fur and shoved into a gift box. She couldn't break the seal by herself -- somebody else had to get her out.... out of the silence. And then Askem spoke again, his voice rhythmical and once again careful. 'The sooner the better,' and he was right. About going back to the den. It was getting very dark by the moment. Askem departed swiftly without waiting for a reply. A few short seconds later, Lexer said 'You're right,' to the ghost of where Askem had stood.

Jenne looked at him with passion and a pang of defeat. Much more than she'd expected had been accomplished today and these few short minutes of conversation that had gone through the wolves in the clearing. She'd discovered (or, rediscovered) her true love and confirmed her relationship with Askem. How exciting. She particularly didn't want to part from the clearing. From the tree. To some extent, it seemed like it was a good luck charm. A naturally occurring good luck charm. She let out a sigh. She couldn't hold it back; it just came. This was a complicating situation. "Well," Jenne muttered out loud, her eyes shining towards Lexer and her mouth curving into a gentle smirk. "Shall we?" Without waiting for a reply, she rose from her forepaws and stretched for an elongated amount of time. It was necessary, too. Her muscles released their tension, or at least some of it. Only sleep could do that. It wasn't nearly time to rest yet. There was a crawling trickle of nervousness in her spine. The scent of many wolves filled the air; not just Saanaa, Askem, Lexer, and she. There were more. More wolves. Perhaps they were being ambushed. Oh well, she thought. That was a... solvable problem. She offered Lexer and small smile and disappeared into the forest, heading towards the set of winding, hollow tunnels that she'd grown to call 'home'.

Lexer watched as Jenna moved confidently in the direction of the den. His legs were stiff with anticipation, and nerves were ultimately, sketched into his heart. He wished time would freeze, so he could live in it forever. He felt no need to see what came next. Knowing that his messed up dream was childish and impossible, he exhaled roughly, his lungs deflating slowly as air was excreted from his maw. He shook out his multicolored pelt, unsure of what to make of the scene. He wasn't sure how many "friends" Jennezia had made through the years, but he didn't need anymore Askems stinking up the territory.

Jenna got to her paws, following through with her suggestion of leaving the scene in exchange for shelter in the den site. Her silvery voice cascaded over the lip of her maw, harmonizing with the wind in it's own sparkling way. It was a pleasant sound, one that no bird bug or wolf could possess. Only Jenna could pull off that kind of alluring music.

Only Jenna.

The she wolf craned her neck to spare Lexer a look. One that seemed to mirror the expressions that were etched onto his own features. Her lips curled upwards playfully as she started forward, her confident strides contrasted with the eery scene, and unpredictable silence. Everyone had decided to take shelter.

Lexer kept his guard up as he trailed two steps behind Jenn. He knew he could keep her safe, as long as his determination stood strong and his will power kept him sane. Everything would be fine.

The minute sounds of the pairs' paw steps surrounded him in the depths of the heavy forest, and Lexer lost track of his thoughts altogether.
